    20 mile LSR

    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/111778743

    20.02 miles in 3:01:24
    Avg Pace: 9:03

Met with Meno, digger, Mr Slow and a friend of his this morning in the park. Really enjoyed this run and the banter throughout. Pace was slow enough but picked up as we went on.

Digger took off with about 4 miles to go and Mr Slow and friend soon followed.

Luckily for me Meno held back to keep me company but we still upped the pace a good bit to what was probably my PMP or slightly quicker. Was happy as legs felt fine with this which was a good confidence boost. When we were finished still felt fresh enough for a change.

Almost 52 miles for the week. Another week out of the way.

Had a massage last night so legs were quite sore in places during this run. Just ran nice and steady without pushing it. Hopefully legs are back to normal tomorrow. Invested in a pair of compression socks which are being tested out for recovery.

Wasn't really looking forward to this session with the wind and rain but the legs felt fresher than yesterday which was good. The intervals were meant to be at 5K race pace which according to McMillan is about 7:15.

Only moment of drama was early in the 3rd interval when I had to stop as I thought I was going to puke  Maybe one of these days I actually will.

A car pulled up for a chat during the rest period after this interval and it was none other than Shaz. I must have looked bad as she was offering to ring ambulances or drop me home

Anyway our chat was curtailed by the beep of the garmin to get going again.

Missed my midweek long run on Friday and was not really in the form for this either. Turned up anyway to the park to meet the lads.

Rotten morning but got the run in anyway. Legs were sore for the last part of the run but I put this down to my nutrition and hydration policy over the last couple of days.

Nice to find these things out anyway and not take them for granted.

    5.01 miles in 47:25

Recovery run today. Some wind is all I can say. Was nice that the portion of the run into the wind coincided with a big hill. Was a killer to just keep moving for this mile.

Not sure if there is any benefit being out when the wind is so strong but at least it was only a recovery run.

No specific target for this run other than I was going to pick up the pace a small bit in advance of Saturday. Have had a bit of a sore throat since Monday night but if felt ok when I got going.

Probably do a bit of a recovery run tomorrow and then hold fire till Saturday. Hopefully this throat won't develop into anything worse. Seems to be a lot of people in the same boat at the moment.

Been struggling last few days and felt like crap this morning. Feel a bit better now so reckon will give it a lash in the morning.

Will set off at PB pace and see what happens. If it's not there it's not there.

Either way catch up with some of you in Ryans after

Felt better this morning than had been so decided it was sub 1:45 attempt or nothing depending on how I felt when I got going. First mile was a bit of a struggle as body woke up but felt fine after that. Definitly an advantage to know the roads and where you can pick up time and where you can maybe keep something in the tank.

PB by 2:58 on my Kildare Half time from May and 21 minute improvement from the same race last year. Really thrilled.

Recovery run this evening to recover from Saturday and the celebrations all Sunday afternoon and night ;) Expected to be feeling worse but wasn't too bad.

Only 6 weeks to go now. Going to try and stay off alcohol and focus more on nutrition :(

I think after Saturdays run I'm going to aim for 3:45 in DCM. Any thoughts anyone?

Legs felt like hell during warm up miles but maybe that was knowing what I had to do to them. First interval too quick and second too slow. Others about right. Nice warm down pace even though I was quite tired.

Pulled up lame after just over 5 miles of planned 11 this evening. Not good. Had started feeling pain on outside of right knee shortly before. Soon became shooting pain with each step.

Have planned massage at 10pm tonight lucky enough so will know more then. Not good when it's a struggle to get up the stairs. Ffs

    11 miles midweek long run

    5.05 miles in 46:11:85

As per previous entries had to call this one short with shooting pain on outside of right knee. Got physio last night and hopefully that will help clear it up. Need to test it tonight and tomorrow with a couple of short runs and if there is still any pain then I guess I will miss my long run at the weekend.

Maybe rest it today and test it tomorrow. Sure if you cant make the weekend just post on the forum if you can make it or not on friday night, i will look out for it.

Tested out the knee on Thursday & Today and on the instructions of physio I was to stop if I felt any pain.

Both runs lasted approx 1 minute each. So from the high of the 1/2 marathon to the dejection of this week. Back to the physio tomorrow night and take things from there.

Absolutly no pain or discomfort when walking. Played golf at the weekend and nothing at all. Start running and it starts niggling straight away and turns into a pain quite quickly. Frustrating to say the least.

    Wheres that Ice :(

Thanks Nules. Got injured the same week last year as well. May start looking at a potential back up plan if things don't clear in the next week.
