RTEsligoNORTHLEITRIM: Large intake of breaths as returning officer takes to the stand... And announces a car is causing an obstruction. Wait continues

    Damn.

I'd assumed that was yourself and irish-stew pulling up to help out with the count, kebabs in hand.

Yes, I have to hand it to whoever devised their strategy here, got it as close to the money as could be expected. Not so enthusiastic that we've finally kicked out the centre-right party that screwed the country by replacing it with a centre-right party that'll probably continue to screw the country.

There's nothing left to screw out of the country - which SF would find out if they had the responsibility of going into Govt, of course that is never going to happen so they can continue to get the social welfare vote. Next election though should be interesting. Prospect of FG/FF Govt led by FG on about 62 seats and FF on about 35. Now that woudl really put an end to the civil war politics, thats what FF should be targetting now.

Heh, spoken like a true anorak, making predictions five years down the line. I expect Labour to perpetuate the civil war split by cosying up to FF towards the end of this government with a view to finally getting Gilmore in as Taoiseach. They failed to put the boot into Fine Gael back in 2002 after all. SF are now a serious threat to Labour, especially if Adams ends up as leader of the opposition. Labour run the risk of being branded FG-lite.

166 Urb. But the Ceann Chormhairle is returned automatically. So 165 really.
    FF now smaller than Independents.

Your predictable posts are now a little tiresome.

I think people should head out to the county borders and erect signs reading "You are now entering a Fianna Fáil-free zone".

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

    Wouldn't say that too early.

One more redistribution, but I can't see it making a difference, Colreavy will get it.
