Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Very pricey for the components

If its just for family use you could build a machine here www.hardwareversand.de and get a nice 19inch lcd monitor for around 300 euro. They will build the machine too.

I'd say if i picked out parts for a self build id make a hames of it

I see Dell's cheapest machine is 349 and it would probably do as we already have netbooks and that Dell has 2 gig Ram (easily upgraded) and 320gig hard disk. The processor not sure but surely it would be good enough for our needs internet, photography and small bit of video editing.

If its just for family use I see your point and dell would be less hassle. That said you could get much more bang for buck choosing the components yourself.

The site i mentioned previously I bought my PC from. Shipping cost 20 euros and they build it for 20 too. ( 27KG! )

Why not make a thread in the building and upgrading forum, and explain your budget and needs. Alot of friendly helpful folk there
