The two successful centres in Cork have a business development agency based in the building: the Genesis Programme anchors the Rubicon, and the Cork Business Innovation Centre is based in the NSC. Webworks would benefit from having one of the agencies (maybe the Cork City Enterprise Board, or EI itself) as the 'anchor tenant'.

There would also be a greater level of interaction between the agency and any of its clients that were also based in Webworks.

In May 2000, Enterprise Ireland announced that they intended to build 10 Webworks centres in Cork, Limerick, Galway, Dundalk, Carlow, Athlone, Letterkenny, Castlebar, Sligo and Waterford. The press release talks of the importance of developing regional clusters of exporting technology companies. They claimed that this £230m initiative was going to create 8,500 jobs.

Just to keep everyone up to date
This Friday the 22nd of April, Cork Open Coffee will be held
in The Webworks in Cork City Center from 10am to 12pm.

The Webworks, which hosted Barcamp Cork IV back in November, is now
offering some great hot desk facilities and is hosting Cork Open
Coffee this Friday as an opportunity for people to see the venue
facilities and hopefully put some bums on seats for it to become the
hub and community that many of us know it should be.

The offer is for €200 per month plus Vat payable monthly in advance.
For this the occupiers will get a desk, chair, pedestal and some great
broadband and wifi! There is free use of the coffee / tea facilities,
canteen area and use of the break out areas also.
I hope to see as many people as possible attend, ill be there for sure.
