Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The Sunday Times magazine had a great piece on these extraordinary photographers Greg Marinovich, Joao Silva, Ken Oosterbroek and Kevin Carter.
The book is called The Bang-Bang Club

This is war photography in its most raw form. I'm going to order this book after reading the article. It really makes you realise the passion some photographers have bordering on insanity!

I believer their is a movie on the way but apparently Hollywood has managed to distort the ending of it in terms of reality!

yep, he came upon a landmine and lost his two legs, one from the shin and the other from the knee. Two of the four committed suicide. Some of the shots they took are enough to drive anyone to suicide.

Kevin Carter took his own life, but his most (in)famous shot of the little Sudanese Infant resting while the preying vulture awaits caused a lot of controversy and perhaps he couldn't handle such feelings and emotions, understandable if you ask me.

That's added to my Xmas list.
I'd like to get at least one present that isn't photography related but so far everything I want is photography related (flash, lens, filters, now this book).

Anybody know where I can see a slideshow of their work? Their South African stuff in particular.

I heard about that on a podcast, one of his friends was explaining what happened.. That's what you call passion.

    It's a brilliant book.

Apparently it's been made into a film with Ryan Phillippe.
The bookshop across from Hogus Figus ordered it in for me.

Made me want to be a tortured war photographer (even though I won’t take my camera out of by bag on the luas red line.)
