    Hi,
We're going to Galway for the first weekend in December, just for a little holiday. Can anyone recommend things to do? Live music (no covers), alternative things to shopping etc.

No covers as in no cover charge or no covers bands?
    I like covers bands.
There's a huge christmas market in Eyre Sq. Definitely worth a look. Bring an umbrella and you'll be grand.

No cover bands! The Christmas market sounds great, but we're looking for things to do in the evening and at night. Good gig venues and good restaurants, all suggestions welcome

there's music at the christmas market on sat nights so you could kill two birds with one stone!:D

any of the bigger music venues will all have cover bands (Monroes, Kings Headetc)
most places have replaced live music with DJs anyway:rolleyes:

maybe try the roisin dubh? Sally longs sometimes has original bands but they're normally midweek

As an alternative you could go to a play in the town hall or catch a comedy gig

You could go skating there is an ice rink opening on the 27th in claddagh and they're open til 10.30pm each night if you fancy something different
