Good pub for a suprise 30th in city centre??

Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of a good place to hold a surprise 30th birthday party? Preferably it would be a pub with a section i could reserve where we could do the whole suprise/cake/cocktail sausages thing? Somewhere in the city centre? Any suggestions much appreciated!:)
