Engine blown in 97 Range Rover 2.5TD, will this work(BMW 325TD)?

Engine is gone in a 97 Range rover 2.5TD, can you put the engine out of a 94 BMW 325TD Saloon into it.
Is there a lot of work getting the bmw engine to fit in the Range Rover, are they the same engine? tks dm

Probably could be fitted but be a lot of work. You'd get a definite answer of of one of the UK Land Rover forums.

I doubt if it's a straight fit even if it's the same block, every ancillary will be different, the sump will be different, engine wiring loom, ecu etc etc . Land Rover change a lot of the engine to work at extreme angles and with torque lower in the rev range.

Thanks, must check it out, found an engine down in south tipp and your man reckons it's a straight swap but it came out of a beamer. I may go check, I was thinking it was to easy.

almost the same fuel pump is different but can be swapped , lots of info on the uk rr forums, opel omega 2.5 engine is similar also.
