My Philips 42pfl9664.....

    Here goes...bought it last year from Richer Sounds in Belfast for £1499. Not cheap but such a good television it was worth paying the extra for. Noticed last week a clutch of dead pixels on the screen..:mad::mad::mad:...left of centre but well within my line of vision.

    Phoned RS in Belfast.Fella was very helpful and pleasant and phoned me back when he said he would. He said he was speaking to Philips and they said they couldn't find that model on their database.To cut a long story short, craigavon.tv (authorised repair agents) took it away, seen the pixels and sent off to Philips for a new panel. New panel arrived and installed today. Engineer said as the TV was in the van most of the day and it was cold here to wait until it heated up in case any damage could be done due to moisture. Turned it on a few hours ago. Where the 4 dead pixels used to be are lovely new alive pixels, but slap bang in the middle of the screen are a batch of new ones..:mad::mad::mad::mad:. Can see 3 at least. I use the PS3 / Xbox360 and Wii and with the Game setting on and a bright background on, they look worse than before as they are so central. I am really, really annoyed at this. I have lost faith in Philips now and fear that if I send it off again the same will happen.

    I will be phoning RS Belfast first thing tomorrow morning. I paid a lot of money for the TV and did not expect this to happen. Totally scundered and really don't want another dodgy set...

    Will let you all know what happens...rant over ( for now)

    @dmurray0,

    Welcome to the Forum :)

    As a first time poster on the richersound forum, please take a moment to read the Charter - it's the second topic on the front page of the forum. As you will see, this is a forum for commercial interraction with Richersounds, so someone from RS will be along to respond to your query, sometime tomorrow probably.

    @all,

    Please bear in mind the Charter request to refrain from pitching in on queries posted here for Richersounds - please leave it to RS to deal with this query.

    Thanks,

    Ritz

    dmurray,

    The charter was mentioned just as a matter of course for a new poster, everything is fine here.

    Cheers,

    ***Update***

    Got my 3rd panel back yesterday from the repair agent, glad to say that the screen is back to it's full glory, no dead pixels in sight. Hope they stay that way.

    Quick thanks to John McD, and also to Matthew from the store in Belfast. They kept me informed every step of the way, and also arranged the loan of a TV while my 9664 was getting fixed. Great service all round fellas, and Craigavon.tv were very quick with the repair.

    Thanks again.
