What are good steps in becoming a garda?

I was thinking of applying for the guards and i was wondering does anyone know any things that would be good to have going into the guards ? Like any skills or job history? thanks

One of the skills prospective guards need is a keen investigative mind. A quick preliminary examination of the forums here led me to this one...
