Hi I've made a red velvet cake, it's a great colour and texture but the flavour is, well there is no real flavour. I picked a recipe with the most cocoa powder in it, but really the cake tastes dull, but looks great. What could I do to make it taste more interestng. I'm planning on icing it with white chocolate buttercream to contrast with the cake colour. It's a 2 layer cake so I was thinking of splitting each layer and putting a thin layer of dark chocolate ganache to up the flavour a bit. Any suggestions welcome.
