Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bike experience not counted on car insurance

I know this is standard practice across the board but Ive recently been trying to get car insurance quotes after being on a bike for over 2 years. Even Quinn, who Im insured with on the bike, dont take into account the number of years experience I have on the bike when giving me a quote.

It annoys me because Ive still been a road user and therefore am well aware of the rules of the road, road usage, road experience, etc. I'd even be inclined to think that I or any other biker for that matter would be much less likely to be involved in an accident in a car than someone that has has the same number of years experience driving a car. I realise that because they are different modes of transport you cant equate them directly but I would like if they could say count 2 years bike experience and ncb as 1 year experience in a car.

Anybody else think this way or is it just me?!

If they did allow bike experience (and bike ncb) to count towards ncb for car insurance, then you can be sure that someone would argue for the reverse to be available too - car experience to count towards ncb for bike insurance.

Do you think that being a car driver gives someone an insight on being a bike rider......?

When insurance companies generally don't allow ncb to people who've been named drivers when they take out their own insurance, I doubt if they'll start to offer "cross-vehicle" ncb!

    ...nah, it's just you.... :p

seriously, though, if you go with AXA they do a deal for someone insuring their car and bike with them.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

nah seriously its a loada b***** i mean fair enough dont count the ncb or the driving experience.... but ffs they shouldnt be able to count a crash u had in your car toward the bike premium!

got a quote the other day and no one would touch me except quinn (Cause thats who i was insured with when i had the crash) and all the other companys were sayin no u had a crash in the last 5 years... and im like ye but its not on a bike! wats the problem...

excuse the amount of foul language and really bad attitude here but insurance company's are the biggest pile of corrupt c***s that ever took up space on our planet.... i'd rather give gangsters and gangs my money the ef'in insurance company's

i am the same as you i want to change from a bike to a car and have 2 years ncb as well on the bike and they wont take that into consideration for car insurance
i think its bull as well because its well known that bike riders are more of a risk for insurance company's compared to car drivers due to the higher chance of injury or death from bike riding

if a car hits a ditch at 50mph the driver has a good chance of walking away with only a few crapes or bruises but if a biker hits a ditch at 50mph more than likely he will be broke up in bits or killed so bike riders are more aware over all when driving compared to some people driving cars due to the higher risk so insurance companys should take the ncb of a biker into consideration when changing from a bike to a car
