My dad texted me. A guy just veered off the road into a ditch in front of him in tubbercurry. There are trucks getting stuck on the hill and its getting blocked he said.

as Mickger said roads are lethal here in Waterford. I am out in the country but on a main road; it is just topped with a thick layer of compacted snow throughout yet no sign of it being gritted.

Pelting snow in Maynooth, temperature is just below freezing (-0.1C) outside the front door (so a bit colder away from buildings), and visibility is down to ~100m.

Gardai are dealing with a collision on the N17 Galway/Sligo Rd at Tobercurry, where there heavy delays both ways between Tobercurry & the N4 Rathrippon jct.

@ Loli, wondering if there is snow on Croagh Patrick:

Yep, theres a good bit, not totally covered but halfway up its drifting into 2 foot accumulations in some parts. The cone looks to be only partly covered. Was up there today, wish I had a sledding device for the few steep boggy parts halfway up that were under a foot or so and really sleddable.

Amazing views up there today with the snow showers sweeping in, then 5 minutes later clear, then all dark again. Really dramatic.

just came home in a massive snow shower between Clonee and Dunshaughlin, the old N3 (free road) is lethal as it has not been treated at all. The M3 was clear but is now filling up with snow across the surfaces. Snow has stopped falling but almost 2 inchs on the ground here now. Footpaths are lethal and seen a few people fall already.
