I live in the usa. I really do not know that much about health care in the rest of the world or in the usa. What I do know is that clinics in the usa for Traumatic Brain Injury work with people within the first year and you are cured after that.

Ireland ... you have a rep for being a little different ++. There is an impression that the cost of living is lower (no nice way to say this).

So do you have any clinics or programs that will rehab someone with traumatic brain injury who is slowly over the years improving physically and mentally? The object to to improve faster.

    C0yote- a few points-

First of all, there are no clinics anywhere in the world who can unilaterally 'cure' brain injury (within the first year or otherwise). Certain types of brain injury respond better to treatment than others- as a massive generalisation the therapeutic value of care tends to be determined by how fast a problem is diagnosed and treated- more than any other factor, but even with immediate treatment, in a large number of cases, the injuries may be of an extent that the person is never 'cured' as you so put it.

There are clinics along with dedicated centres of excellence specialising in brain trauma in almost all countries internationally- some centres have more media prominence than others- however this in no means that the good work in any random centre worldwide is any better or worse than elsewhere.

I do not know what you mean when you are hinting at Ireland having a lower cost of living than elsewhere. 2 of Ireland's cities are still among the top 30 most expensive cities in the world- we have many problems in Ireland- however our sky high cost of living is a bigger problem than most of our other problems. Its interesting to see how Irish issues are reported by the US media and internationally- however with respect of the cost of living being lower here- they are quite simply as incorrect as they could possibly be.

We have several centres in Ireland that deal with rehabilitation after numerous types of injuries, both brain injuries alongside physical injuries. Irish centres have a good reputations and have good historical records of assisting people in coping or developing new skills, to help cope with their trauma and injuries. Often patients may be road accident victims or victims of other accidents who may have limbs amputated, but they would also cater for those who have had massive head traumas- which might include aneurysms or stroke victims.

To be honest- a little googling might perhaps elucidate. I'm not sure what news source you are basing your comments on, but they far wide of the mark.......
