Thanks Nead. I'll be driving it on Thursday or Friday. Last time I drove it was about three weeks ago. One lane, 20mph, low vis, busted heater!

Our pipes are frozen from the outside, anyone any ideas on how we can sort this out as we're completely without water, I believe a blow torch can be used to melt the ice?

If anyone has a blow torch could we borrow it from them and we will reward them kindly with ample beers etc?

Apparently if you heat the pipe you can melt the ice inside.

Ye need to clear the snow off the line of the pipe to the stopcock outside..

Stopcock thingy is where the water mains comes into your house..

AFAIK you should not attempt to put a blow torch near it..

It happened to me last year..few kettles worth of hot water,
NOT BOILING !! poured over stopcock thing might help..

The stopcock/mains thing is a kind of horseshoes shape..

    PLEASE seek/google/research for more info..

    I AM NO EXPERT!!! :)

be careful with the blowtorch could cause steel pipes to explode and plastic pipe to melt , a hair dryer or electric fan heater would be better

    Avoid blow torch;)
Hot water and lots of it kettles pots whatever lift the lid from the stopcock on the path, also if you have an outside tap continuosly por hot water on these points,it took me 4.5 hours to do it today.
OK if your getting paid for it though;)

I had that up last night using a special instrument borrowed from a neighbour but some passer-by kicked it down, probably thinking it needed to be, so I can't get at it now.

I think we're just looking at no water until March.

Can't believe there are no laws which prohibit builders from doing cowboy jobs like leaving these pipes too close to the ground which is how the problem started and subsequently will prove to be a problem every winter.
