Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Team news,
    TEAM NEWS

Newcastle are without regular centre-backs Mike Williamson and Fabricio Coloccini, both of whom are beginning three-match suspensions.

Joey Barton still has one game of his own ban to serve, but fellow midfielder Cheik Tiote is now suspension free.

Chelsea are again without the injured John Terry but Alex is fit to play.

Influential midfielders Frank Lampard and Michael Essien are still sidelined, with the Ghanaian serving the final game of a three-match suspension.

    Newcastle

Suspended: Coloccini & Williamson (three matches),
    Barton (one match)

    Doubtful: Ameobi (hamstring)

Injured: Ben Arfa (broken leg), Best and R Taylor (both ankle), Gosling (knee), Harper (shoulder)

    Chelsea

    Suspended: Essien (one match)

Injured: Benayoun (Achilles), Lampard (groin), Terry (back)

Hopefully we will get back to winning ways here, was meant to go to this but the snow ruined my travel plans. :(

TEAM NEWS: NEWCASTLE UNITED V CHELSEA
Posted on: Sun 28 Nov 2010

The team is the one named by Carlo Ancelotti in the build-up to the game so Jose Bosingwa will start at right-back.

Florent Malouda plays his 100th Premier League game and Ramires (who is quite possibly seeing snow for the first time) and John Mikel Obi will fill the midfield positions.

Didier Drogba will be flanked by Salomon Kalou and Nicolas Anelka with Alex playing his last game before surgery in a central defensive partnership with Branislav Ivanovic.

Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan is missing so Danny Guthrie moves into the centre with Wayne Routledge coming in on the wing. There is a second change in the centre of midfield with Cheik Tiote replacing Alan Smith. Shola Ameobi takes the armband.

Sol Campbell and Steven Taylor form a second-choice centre-back pairing for the home side with Mike Williamson and Fabricio Coloccini both suspended.

    The Chelsea team is:

    1 Petr Cech
    17 Jose Bosingwa
    2 Branislav Ivanovic
    33 Alex
    3 Ashley Cole
    7 Ramires
    12 John Mikel Obi
    15 Florent Malouda
    21 Salomon Kalou
    11 Didier Drogba (c)
    39 Nicolas Anelka

Subs: 22 Ross Turnbull, 19 Paulo Ferreira, 43 Jeffrey Bruma, 38 Patrick van Aanholt, 46 Josh McEachran, 44 Gael Kakuta, 23 Daniel Sturridge.

Newcastle are expected to start in the following 4-4-2 formation:

Krul; Simpson, Campbell, Taylor, José Enrique; Routledge, Guthrie, Tiote, Gutiérrez; Ameobi (c), Carroll.

Subs: Perch, Kadar, Ranger, Soderberg, Best, Smith, Lovenkrands.

    The referee is Andre Marriner.

Hope Newcastle can do us a favour here but with their two centre backs missing and barton out as well I can only see a Chelsea win.

    0-3.:(

Yeah despite our ****e form I am actually pretty confident of us winning here.(could regret that later), but I think Campbell could be in for a torrid day.

I'd definitely take a draw, if we (Newcastle) can get the first goal and frustrate Chelsea we'll have a chance but it's hard not to feel like Chelsea will have too much for us.

    Massive pressure on Chelsea today

    MASSIVE :D

thanks be to fack Paulo doesn't start, plenty of attackinig options from the two full backs, Malouda in midfield, Kalou and Anelka out wide, and Drogba up front. Think Newcastle will have a tough time getting past Mikel, Alex and Ivanovic.

I'll take an injury free 0-2 Chelsea win.

I love how they've realised that if they just boo him, they can only abuse him when he has the ball so now they're singing about him.

He needs time to adapt to English football. I'm confident he'll turn out to be a quality midfielder in time.
