I'm another one who is liking Mardle's commentary. No real bullshít, saying it as it. Good commentary so far, hopefully it will continue but there is a chance since Lanning has retired.

Great game this, would love to see it go all the way

Webster made hard work of that one, awesome first set then he just went to shiit.

Just watching Taylor talk before his game, what a patronising prick he's become.

thats some hairstyle for wright. is he trying to put taylor off? it's something to try anyway

stop the lights. he does my head in with his interviews.
    dominating this game though

Taylor might be winning this game but I genuinely can't see him winning the tournament. There is something different about him in this tournament than previous tournaments I have seen him in. I think Whitlock will put him out in the semi's

i can't see anyone beating him. whitlock amd barny will push him close but he's too much class and experience.

If Anderson averages what he did today and plays like that he could give Barney hell but Anderson did look weak in the last two sets.

Wright had a ton of chances, missed vital doubles.

Taylor is still going to take some beating but Webster, Lewis, Whitlock, Anderson and Barney must all fancy their chances of winning it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,798 ✭✭✭syngindub

lets not forget "Jackpot" Adrian Lewis. Didn't he beat him in the semi's in citiwest?
Anderson played well tonight, looked very sharp and hit something like 24-25 140's..Some great players still in it and enjoying it this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,260 ✭✭✭Juwwi

Webster is gona have toplay better than he did today to beat Phil
    but he has a chance.
Its a pity its not Lewis playing Phil next l'd fancy lewis to beat him if it was the next game.

I dont think Phil will win it,he does'nt look himself its like there is the weight of the world on his shoulders and its not this premature baby talk that he wrongly keeps bringing up.

For me Whitlock will take some beating.

He hit 13, 22 in the game.

If he hit 25 on his own in one game i think they'd just give him the trophy. :)

Even though Webster wasn't at his best tonight I still think he'll give Taylor a hard game and has every chance of beating Taylor. Whitlock and Anderson have been my 2 top players so far with Barney and Lewis not far behind.

Terry Jenkins is improving and with the draw he has I reckon he'll reach the semi final and who knows after that? What a story it would be if Jenkins managed to win the World title.

The story with Taylor's daughter is getting annoying. Don't get me wrong it's a worrying time for the family but really should he be on live TV using this as an excuse for his poor performance? This is a private family matter and it should have been kept that way and Taylor should not be on national TV telling the story. You'd wonder is he making his excuses early if he gets knocked out?

What can one say about Denis Priestley? The man is a legend and at the ripe old age of 61 he had Anderson on the ropes today but those 7 missed doubles in the 6th set were costly. Fair play to Anderson though,if that was a year or 2 ago he would have fallen apart and he'd have lost.

Overall the tournament is starting to take shape now and we're in for some crackers of games in the quarter finals on New Year's Day the way the field is shaping up.

Totally agree. The self righteous harping on about his grandchild should be kept private. We all wish them the best of health, we don't need Phil to tell us how great he is for getting through it at every opportunity.

I fancy Whitlock too. He's the only one you can safely say won't bottle it - he mightn't play great all the time, but has the head to see a tough match through. Barney, Lewis, Anderson, Wade etc are too hot and cold.

It was 140's being referred to,which he did hit about 25 on his own,he's such a heavy scorer but liable to mess up too which makes for great entertainment

superb 167 checkout for lewis in the 2'nd leg first set.
has there been a higher checkout yet?

Gowan Jackpot you hero, cracking stuff so far.

sid and mardle having a squealing competition in the commentary. Mardle has a terrible habit of screeming when anyone attempts a bullseye.
    Sid is just sid.

curtains for Thornton. Lewis had too much for him. His is a major contender for the title

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,630 ✭✭✭steelcityblues

Lewis looks like a more mature player these days.

Would like to see him go all the way in this!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,286 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

Hes big time in the shake up after that performance.

Going to be a cracker vs Whitlock in the quarters.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,798 ✭✭✭syngindub

not sure if the pie man can last the distance though.
He'll be knackered after a few sets

    So many 180's:eek:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,798 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

10 180's in the last 5 legs. Looks like I picked the right time to tune in today

    Anderson is a machine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,218 ✭✭✭dexter647

If anderson keeps this up there'll be no stopping him... Fantastic darts:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,798 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Brilliant performance from Anderson and some average from him

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,222 ✭✭✭✭Will I Amnt

Serious darts from Anderson hope he can keep it up and go all the way, unlucky for the pieman he came up against him in that form, would have beaten a lot of the remaining players with that performance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,260 ✭✭✭Juwwi

What a performance by Anderson there.
He must be the man to beat now if he can keep it up.

Potentially Anderson v Barnie and Whitlock v Lewis in the 1/4's this
is turning out to be some tournament.

I'd say there only 1 man out there today who isnt enjoying the great darts today.
l'l give u a clue hes friends with Ronnie and Robbie Williams.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,328 ✭✭✭dartbhoy

Ruthless performance by Anderson with a 108+ average and to think he missed a good few doubles,he could have set a new record in that game! As for the Pieman this man is definitely the nicest guy on the PDC circuit and has raised his profile big time after this.

Will Anderson finally become World Champion? Personally I hope he does win it now,he would be a popular champion with the darts fans.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,630 ✭✭✭steelcityblues

Barney must've been a bit anxious watching that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 417 ✭✭Berti Vogts

Anderson is great with the wind on his back but..........wait for some pressure!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,798 ✭✭✭syngindub

fell asleep on the couch for the end of that anderson game :)
