As one of Hodgson's biggest critics on this site, I have to say that he has gotten his tactics spot on today.


We are playing 15 yards further up the pitch than normal, and pressing Spurs when we don't have the ball.

I dunno what to think after watching that tbh... We've played worse this season and gone on to win (e.g. last week) but I cant see us doing much with Palacios on the pitch. Harry wont take him off either at half-time because we only have 1 sub left.
Maybe Carra might pop up for a goal...:pac:

given our away performances this year, I am very impressed with the first half. The passing around the middle of the field in particual is alot quicker. Maxi had a great chance to make it 2 nil - such a pity he didn't. Great to see 'arry has had to use 2 of his subs already as this will limit what he can do , especially as Placious is atrocious.
A bit worried we have a few on a yellow - Meireles made a perfect tackle and gets booked
Going out now so will be looking forward to MOTD2 to see if we have gone above them, although I would have taken a draw beforehand ( getting gready now;) )

He has to keep it like that when Gerrard is fit, doesn't matter what his captain wants. Play Gerrard in his best position - either behind Torres or out on the right.

Thank You Thank You Thank You for confirming what i thought in that first half. Meireles is such a quality centre midfielder, so much better that Gerrard.

Rafa found Gerrard's best position, playing in the hole just behind Torres. No English manager would have dared suggest that to Gerrard.

Lucas is playing brilliantly!! My first choice attacking formation would be Lucas alongside Meireles, Maxi on the left, Kuyt on the right with Gerrard playing behind Torres.

There's no reason why we can't pick up results with that formation!!
