If he books a player for winning the Ball V Bale then its a pen if the ref is being consistent

Em no. He was just wrong with the first decision?

    Wasn't a pen

    Ekotto clearly got the ball?

Is there not a difference between getting a knick on the ball where it's still there for Kuyt to run onto and winning the ball/clearing it?

he got the ball, kuyt intercepted it and then Ekotto took him out with both feet. peno.

    FFS ROY!

Ngog for Jova had to be the change imo. With Jova playing centre instead of wide. Pace and power against the dodgy defence.

Assou-Ekotto's tackle was never a pen, won the ball.

Not at all. It's the same motion and phase of a tackle. He got the ball. So what if Kuyt then touched it again? Ekotto was still completing the first challenge.

    Pool settling for the draw?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,560 ✭✭✭✭Kess73

Am a little concerned with Maxi on the right against Bale, but Kuyt up front adds a bit of strength alongside Torres.

Did I hear someone shout "cúnt" there?

Also WTF Gray? "15 minutes is a long time in this league"
What, did it somehow get a fcuking gazebo extended onto it?

    The mind boggles.

9 men behind the ball again as usual near the end of the game. Not a good tactic.

Ball was not in the box

Watch it again, part of the ball was above part of the line = penalty.

So is that not a red card after all he went into a tackle and did not have control of his body ;)

Oh and another soft free kick for Spurs again

If it is only part of the ball then it is no penalty.

As with a goal, the whole ball has to be over the line for it to be awarded.

Gomes clanger coming up any minute.

That's completely different. This is a question of where the foul was committed. A Foul was committed on part of the line which is deemed inside the box and is therefore a pen.

Reina needs to be more careful on crosses. Can't depend on the defenders the whole time. In saying that, fair play to the defenders for being there.

Oh god, at least try to know what you're talking about before posting.

A foul on the line of the penalty box is a penalty. Therefore it does not have to be over the line, just on it. For a goal to be scored or the ball to go out of play the whole of the ball must be over the whole of the line, understand?

    Nope, that's it.

Would like to see aurelio move to LB and Konch come off for Jova, with jova playing up with Torres.
