I presume you are going on the 1-year J1 for recent graduates? In which case your job needs to be related to your qualification. What type of job were you looking for? tecahing music? in a music school or high school? What is required to get a teaching post in NYC? Is there a licensing process? These are the kind of questions you need to ask and research.
