Have any schools been closed for tomorrow, some of the minor roads are pretty slippy, major ones seem ok.

Iv heard talk of Skerries and Rush secondary schools being closed, but so far its just wishful thinking on the behalf of students.

    why are schools closed?

i would imagine that most of the pupils are local and can walk to school? not trying to start an argument here but surely its not impossible for people to attend school?

With reference to the secondary school in Rush, a lot of pupils come from Skerries, Lusk, Portrane, Donabate. It doesnt look likely that there will be bus services tomorrow, so that will mean a huge amount of the student population will be absent, along with teachers unable to make it due to hazardous driving conditions.

There's also the fact that teachers may not be able to reach the schools.

I imagine many of the teachers may not be within walking distance.
I know teachers who have to drive 1 hour+ to get to their place of work, so it is very dangerous for them in such circumstances.

yes and no. a lot of teachers live in kildare and meath. i came from there last night. granted it took a little longer, but very manageable. this is the weather for the week. office workers live outside dublin as well and they are not closing

Well I think schools need to follow health and safety laws on student-teacher ratios and need to make sure they have enough teachers to cover all the students
