 Excuse me for butting in but am I the only one who has noticed that the temp at Dublin Airport has shot up to +2c. That would mean rain wouldn't it?

Long time lurker, first time poster. Snowing for the last 20 mins in Sandyford. Mix of graupel and snow and it was coming down pretty heavy. Easing off a bit now though.

Some reports says 10cm of snow in Dublin. Heavy showers about 3pm or 4pm later.

Im in work here in Northwest Business Park in Blanchardstown. Its been blue skies all morning, but still bitterly cold, with no sign of a thaw.

As I speak there is one big mutha of dark cloud cover starting to drift overhead. I reckon some snow in the next few minutes.

A work collegue left here is in car about an hour ago and the outside temperature reading was -6.

what are the chances of heavy snow in dublin city, something like last years??

  • Site Banned Posts: 4,415 ✭✭✭MilanPan!c

yeah, we might get a tiny bot of sleet, but that's frozen stuff heating up as it falls... the air temp is way to cold for rain and the ground temp is WAY to cold for thaw...

The important thing is the dew point. If it's below zero and the air temp below 2c then we're in business. Air temps of over 2c aren't good though.

Light rain/sleet here consistent but hasn't intensified enough.

Have a feeling Met forecasts could be a major gaffe.
