hi need to buy a pc for the parents. just need the tower.

only need something simple enough, can anyone reccomend anything? or any sites.. ive looked on komplett/dabs etc but not much on there really as far as i can see. pc world had barely any that theyd give without the monitor etc and overpriced anyway. would be willing to make myself if anyone can reccomend where to start (other than google) anyway.

any ideas appreciated, cheers.

You just need the tower hey? Is that 'cause you have the monitor, keyboard and mouse from the old one?

Just make sure the keyboard and mouse are USB and not PS/2, otherwise you'll beed to buy new ones, or little PS/s to usb converters. Don't be afraid to look at laptops if the price is right. If you hook up the screen, keyboard and mouse then it might as well be a desktop. Dell can have some competitive prices, they have the outlet store too. PCworld and tesco have deals every now & again on small laptops/netbooks. Netbook could be a winner if you don't need CD / dvd drive. You really need to name a price first though.

yeh i just need a tower. ive lots of spare monitors keyboards etc thats not a problem. i just need a tower at a decent price. dont want netbook. this has to last and batteries will die before a tower. also parents have no need for moving around with it etc, it will most likely end up being used as a fancy typewriter when im not around.

doesnt need to do much anyway but decent bit of ram (or atleast room for expansion) wouldnt hurt.

any websites anyone can recommend...?

i might try and build it from parts if not, if that turns out to be cheaper anyway.

i've just picked out lowest price on these sites really.. self builds are all well and good if you already have a non OEM copy of windows. If you're using linux then it doesn't matter obviously!

hi was thinking around 2-400. just found a second hand one on adverts cheap enough though so think ill go for that. cheers anwyay lots of help and ill end up buying one for myself soon enough shall keep the links.
