Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So with the cold weather, and ice covering most pathways to houses and paths outside, we should all take the time to ask our elderly neighbours if they are in need of things from the shops, be it milk, or bread,. Most elderly people will be afraid to try and walk out in this weather as a risk serious to injury. All I'm saying is try to remember your neighbours in this harsh weather.

What if they demand Brandy and Cavier? The elderly seem to have high faluting notions.

Anyways there is an Oil Tanker blocking my street and a pack of wolves roaming around it. I'm not going out.

The old lady living below me attempted to reverse her car into a parking space on Friday afternoon and ended up parking at a 45 degree angle, using up two parking spaces. And she decided that was adequately parked and left it like that. What makes it worse is that it's one of these. So now there is a arse-ugly shoebox blocking two parking spaces in front of my house. And she's not going to use the car in the snow, so it's there for at least another week.

So screw her. She can starve for all I care.

No, seriously her son comes down every morning and evening with his dog to check in on her

Work in teams of two with one person escorting the pensioner to the shop while the other strips the gaff of heirlooms, indecently fat cash stashes hoarded away in cat baskets and bags of Werthers Originals.

Now, I'm an equal opportunities guy, so even though I'm not elderly, I think someone should offer to go out to buy some food for me.

I'm down to some custard, a cottage pie and stale bread. I'm only recovering from a heavy cold, so it's not a good idea for me to go out into the cold.

    Any volunteers?

Oh, and back during the last freeze, I was walking to work and found an elderly gentleman struggling to stay standing. He was wearing a pair of those 'old people' smooth leather sole shoes that have very little grip. So, I gave him my ice-grips ( http://www.blacktoe.co.uk/ice%20Grips/JH-227%20Non%20slip%20snow%20cover.htm )

So that's my once-per-decade good deed done.

I use a kettle, doesn't mean I boil the water first.

And yeah, OP, can you drop into me as well? I could do with some milk. Ta.

Peak time for opportunistic buglaries apparently. Neighbours don't really notice strange people wandering around and people will often leave doors and windows open/unlocked where thieves can get in and out in a couple of second ands take wallets/bags/keys/etc.

I invited my 85 year old neighbour out for a snowball fight yesterday, if that counts.

dude, throwing water over your car makes it solidify into ice on the ground for other people to slip on.

unless you have a driveway and the water definetely wont go onto the path

I'm stuck in Dublin till this snow eases up. My elderly neighbours are driving off in their big expensive cars with awd and rwd. Or they're out making snowmen and pulling their grandkids up the hill on a sled.
They should be checking in on me to see do i want anything in the shop! :pac:

    Mmmhh...

That's quite a complicated question for me who has no clue of weights and is stuck between imperial and metric...

    so em..

About the size of two bags of flour if they were mushed together..

My local Lidl had a big pallet full and everyone seemed to be buying some.

Dishwasher salt bags are fairly cheap in Tesco, I used them last year.

    :)

Tis a bit of an idea alright.. But at the same time if it is too come down for the week like is being predicted then I don't see much point trying to clear it.
