Is the Met site the best place to check for the M2 Buoy temps and DPs ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 270 ✭✭Elmo5

    Hi everyone,

Sorry but just wanted to ask about what you expect to happen today. We got a bit of snow here overnight but not what was expected. It's snowing here again lightly at the moment, but is the big motherload still to come later on today or is that kind of it?

    Thanks!

Look at the stream of showers heading into the north east UK atm. http://www.sat24.com/gb Hopefully its a bit of this action, with lower dewpoints, that we will see later.

"Indeed, people I think are reading change and breakdown as an indication of impending Atlantic or very mild conditions. It isn't IMO. The change is coming through greater flow over the top of the mean ridge. The coupled ocean-atmosphere system suggests that the ECM this morning blows heights to the north too fast and is an outlier. If so, that low to our SW is unlikely to have much of an impact and is incorrectly modelled at present.

The GFS Ensemble mean continues to suggest below average conditions for some time to come, not as much as in the last week or two, but still below average with snow potential. "

Appears to be a bubble of warmer air moving east to west across the country - hopefully we'll see the back of it soon:)

    PS: Still snowing here though:D

True it was the bubble of warmer air that was giving sleet/rain along the coast earlier on , colder air should be on route as we speak

Su, how well do you think our neck of woods will do from the snow later? Are we far enough inland for decent snow today , ?

    Thanks.
