    Does anyone know if it's possible to book an MRI scan anywhere in our region ?

    This would initially have to be done through your GP.

    Can't you book one privately without reference from a GP.. and is there is facility in our region ?

    No. To have an MRI scan, you need to be referred by your consultant or G.P., and the results need to interpreted by an expert.

    There is a MRI machine at Letterkenny General Hospital.

    The Galway clinic do MRI scan's,it cost just under 500 euro two years ago.

    Euromedic Ireland will accept referral letters for MRI from physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors. Euromedic have an MRI unit in Sligo General and have a web discount charge of €195.

    there is a place in coleraine called scan cntre, who will do an mri without being referred. i know its far but worth it, if it is serious

    Ballykelly got one too I think, but again probably need a referral.

    So you have to pay to see a consultant/GP for a referral, then pay a radiologist for the scan and then pay your consultant/GP again to review the findings?

    Feck sake, surely a radiologist can do it all.

    I only paid a one-off fee and the result was included. I'm on a medical card and so the cost was just under 200 euro all-in.
