Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rear Wheels not rotating on Landcruiser LWB.

My friend is stranded at my house at the moment, her 2004 Toyota Landcruiser LWB has developed an odd problem. Having driven from Dunshaughlin to Trim in the snow without drama, she stopped for coffee at the Petrol Station. The car had driven fine up to this and she had used the High Range gearbox.

When she tried to drive away she the car at first drove perfectly but suddenly her rear wheels stopped moving and she started to slide sideways. Engaging low range didn't help. She also realised that the rear wheels DO move when she tries to reverse, but lock once again after a few rotations forward.

She made numerous attempts to drive on but the same problem kept recurring and the car was sliding completely out of control across the road. As such she decided it too dangerous to continue and has stopped here until we can resolve the problem.

Does any one know why this is happening? Is this some electronic or mechanical failure? Is the handbrake frozen on? Or are the rear pads freezing to the disc?

    Any help or advice appreciated.

Could be a few different things.

It is unlikely to be brakes. Could be diff or the transfer box. If you were to take down the driveshaft and see do the wheels turn then you will know if it is in the axle or the 'box

sound a bit like the handbrake, did she use it when she stopped?
