Lucanites! I left work early to come home after seeing the showers earlier on and the radar showing what looked like more on teh way in. On the way to the Pennyhill, the slip road at the Foxhunter was white and while cars were goign up gingerly OK, I think a freeze will make that difficult. The Outer Ring Road was brown snow but quite wet. All roads off it were hard packed white looking. Estates are full of fluffy snow underfoot.

Hail/graupel just seems to be starting again now. I'll post up some pics that I took earlier in the photos thread...

Already no buses serving the village - just the 25a/b now - 66/67/239 skipping Lucan.

Serious snowfall in D18 since 8.30am. Just stopped in last few minutes.. easily 3 inches fell

    Correct, it's a mess.

For those of us who don't like slipping and sliding but have to go out for one reason or another, you might want to try these -

    http://www.yaktrax.co.uk/yaktrax-shop

I bought the Pro version during the big freeze last year/earlier this year but by the time they arrived the snow was gone. I just wore them to the shops there now and they were very good, walking on snow, ice, slush and I had seemingly perfect grip. I didn't push it though and I wasn't walking super fast, I didn't want to tempt fate but they seem very good.

The downsides are that they're a bit tricky to put on and you will need to take them off before going indoors. Walking on tiles, marble, wood etc becomes almost impossible. Although I put them on outside the shop and it didn't take me that long, I'd say 2 mins tops and I'm not the most flexible of people either so.
