Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    *Jet Set Radio
    *Golden Axe
*Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit

Repro box, has to be, that game never had a small box release in PAL territories, did it?
Initially he says that it's the rare small box version, then goes on to say that it's a copied box, probably, and that he couldn't get the manual for it...
Think he's full of sh1t but thinks no one else will notice with that auction!

edit: LOL! The item location is Crook, UK!

. This Is a £70 game with out box so I am expecting final auction In excess of £100 with no manual in this condition.

130 euro for a loose copy of Metroid in a ****ty repro box, I don't think so.

I think that's the funniest thing, the box. Apparently copied versions of boxes are worth the same now, you can even see the dreaded white cardboard inside the box.

As for the small box, I know there was a small box PAL version released in Scandinavian territories in small amounts and some in Australia, there are stories of a tiny amount in the UK but have yet to see a UKV version

Where would you guys say would be the best place to grab joysticks and buttons? Was looking on Aliexpress, but dubious of some of the vendors/products there.

Some dodgy poor quality knock off parts there in my experience, I always use devil soundwaves shop, http://www.arcadejapan.co.uk/ (seems to be down at the moment) or else http://www.arcadeworlduk.com/ have used both of these is the past with zero issues.

Actually Steve, you swapped the stick/buttons on your icade, any ones in particular suit the job?

I just went with what i had around. Which was Sanwa buttons and I can't remember the stick i used. Makes a massive difference to how it plays.

You will need to cut/dremel a little to get them in.

I haven't bought something from them in a while but they were always my go to site when getting stuff for the candy - I was only interested in Seimitsu (the best ;)) and they always had what I needed. Cheaper than UK sites too.

Interested in hearing recommendations on this myself, being play testing lots of shumps on PS1 & PS2 lately and it really highlights how crap those cheap Zippy sticks are !!

For Shmups you'll be wanting a Seimitsu LS-32, or if you want a really tight joystick a Seimitsu LS-56.

The LS-32 is a nice all rounder for other genres, and is pretty tight.

The LS-56 is probably the ultimate SHMUP joystick.

I must give the Seimitsu sticks another shot in my cab. Although I'll stick with the Sanwa buttons for sure.

Seimitsu LS-32 and sanwa buttons on the way from Arcade World. I did try Arcade Japan but they didnt have the correct coloured buttons in stock, their loss.

Edit: just arrived in my parcel motel , pity my cab is in a thousand pieces

Ok, maybe I'll pair some lovely Happ buttons with it. You know the type, about 27 inches of travel and a loud click before it registers the press :D

The last of the working Noraut Poker machines is up on Adverts.

    http://www.adverts.ie/arcade-retro/noraut-poker-arcade-gaming-gambling-machine-cabinet/9931290

This one has a decent monitor. The poker burn is not bad enough that you can't play games on it.

It would be tempting, to use a RP0 and convert it into a dedicated Robotron cab... wouldn't be worth the divorce though :(

Hate the happ style buttons in the iCade. Can you remember offhand if the sticks in it need the mounting plate or not?

It's very non standard in the iCade. If I remember correctly I had to design a basic mount for it and 3D print(and maybe a little Sugru as well).

Here's a link to an old post on my site when I was taking the iCade apart. A few pics are no longer showing as imageshack died. I've backups I must restore to it.

Tempting, but I just can't justify an MSX that'll rarely get played coming into the house!

where did you get that sandblasting and painting done? i need to do something with the legs off my Space Invaders cocktail and get it finished, but dont think chrome dipping them is an option in ireland. would probably cost a fortune too.

I have a blast cabinet in work.Just used rattle cans and baked it in an industrial oven.
Its a pain in the hole to be honest.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 5,391 Mod ✭✭✭✭Optimus Prime

ah cool, it sounds like it haha, i spent a day scrubbing the chrome legs with tinfoil and coke once after reading on the internet it can fix up chrome haha. either i did it wrong or it doesnt work.

Ill get it powder coated or something at some stage, i sprayed it with chrome rattle cans but if anything touches off them it comes off.

Clear coat on top should sort that(i've done that with chrome spray paint before). Or will that take away from the chrome look?
Seems to take days or even a week for the clear coat to lose its sticky feel though.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 5,391 Mod ✭✭✭✭Optimus Prime

I never thought of that to be honest, ill give it a go. thanks, a satin coat should keep the shine, might even improve it, id say a matt would take it away alright.

I use the Humbrol spray acrylics for most jobs. They're cheap enough and look well. I usually grab them from Marks Models in the city as they have a decent selection and will let you test them out if you ask(they also do delivery and its quick).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,725 ✭✭✭The Last Bandit

You can get still re-chromed, but don't think anywhere in Ireland does it anymore. Know of few guys who have had classic car parts re-chromed but its not cheap !!
