Where is the best place to get gloves and a hat for running?

Pennys/Dunnes for the cheap and chearful ones.

The usual stores Amphibian King, Runwork etc for the more specialised (expensive!) ones

I spent a couple of quid on hat an gloves in Pennys before the marathon with the intention of throwing them away part way round. Still had them on at the end though, but they did the job. I didn't find any properly thin gloves there though so the gloves are actually a bit thicker than I'd normally wear for running.

JB Sports carry the Run 365 brand (did the name change recently?) - at least half the price of leading brands and similar quality.
I've a couple of pairs of gloves and socks on the go for a few years and no issues.

the people who bring you the 1000 mile sock also make the 1000 mile glove. I've had them for a few years and loved em, thin but warm. Pity I lost one of them last winter:mad:

No help to the OP but my 'Cork Athletics' wooly hat, picked up at the CCM Expo 18 months ago is now coming in useful. The man at the Expo said 'you won't need this tomorrow' and he was right :)

You can buy 2 thin woolie (type) hats in Dunnes for €4, you can't really go wrong with that.

anyone that buys a dunnes hat has never tried anything good before.
Firstly they are too wolly and soak the sweat making it heavier.
one benefit is you can throw it away and you wont feel guilty.

They are a thin cotton hat, no wool in them at all. Personally I normally go running in a singlet and shorts regardless of the temp but I did wear a hat on my last run and thought I would end up throwing it in the ditch or carrying it due to getting too warm.

It was light enough that it wasn't an issue. Why spend more if you don't need to?

If the Dunnes hat is cotton it will absorb the sweat and hold it against your head eventuality becoming worse than having no hat on at all.

I have a polyester blend one which is fine, keeps you warm and dry but I find I eventually get too warm so end up taking it off. However during the summer I got a Buff and find it great, works well as a hat and if I do get too warm I can slip it around my neck or wrap it around my wrist.
