Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

While I think having access to sessions like this is fantastic, I watched some of this yesterday and I have to agree with you Fran, it wasn't exactly rivetting viewing.

Tamara Lackey a couple of weeks ago was a better communicator and more entertaining to watch, even though I seemed to miss the best bits of her 3 day event too.

ZXC - that's exactly my thinking too - she was a much better communicator. This guy knows his stuff and all that, but the sessions seem very slow or something.

I'll have a look again later tonight and see how its going....

It's a bit slow alright, but I didn't tune for a 60 second sound bite. His work is very good and I'm really liking the fact that hes not afraid to admit sometimes he hasn't a clue how the image is going to turn out.

I watched about 30 minutes of it last night, the guy seemed more concerned about going for lunch than answering the questions thrown at him. Streaming wasn't too smooth, probably just the weather, so I gave up in the end. Wasn't exactly highly informative, there wasn't anything he was saying that you didn't already know/wasn't mere common sense. But I get that they can be very helpful, or can spark ideas in your head. Sometimes they give blatantly obvious suggestions that you might not have thought of.

90 mins portfolio - he's hoping to have 30 images
Should start about 10.30pm Irish time

Using rope light at the moment...

I am stealing this light rope idea!

    yeh me too!!

It's much more interesting watching the shoots than the Q&A that's for sure.

90 min portfolio shoot starting now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,393 ✭✭✭AnCatDubh

actually, I like the sessions slow and all that they are.

To me, it is an artistic approach (sensing, feeling) rather than a scientific approach (formula, measured).

It gives me hope for photography for people to just start out not knowing what the final result will be.

And the most difficult shot of them all, a self portrait....

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 616 ✭✭✭pearljamfan

did he do a self portrait ? i fell asleep!

I tuned in just in time for the 90 minute portfolio and was spellbound by it. One of the best things I've seen and will defintely use a lot of it.

So impressive after what seemed very unpromising earlier.
