Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi There
On Saturday, December 11th at 10:30 am a fun charity event for all age groups will take place at the new Limerick greyhound track, each entrant gets a free Santa Suit to wear and all that is asked is that you make a kind donation towards the charity . The massive event has been put together by Hibernia Cycling Tours manager Aidan Quigley and has been given the support of the city council and sports organisation. The Santa Cycle consists of a 25km route or you could Run/walk an easy 4 kilometre to enjoy with the family, knowing that every cent collected on the day will go to supporting young Sophie Mulcahy and the Jack and Jill foundation . Sporting Hero and one of the finest classics riders of all time Sean Kelly has also shown his support for the charity event and will meet with everyone on the day . He won an amazing seven years in a row, Kelly was first to be ranked No.1 when the FICP rankings were introduced in March 1984, a position he held for a record six years

Sophie Mulcahy is a four year old girl living in Limerick ,Sophie suffers from a rare condition called Ohdo Syndrome and is one of only 30 know cases in the world. She has battled an amazing 6 open heart operations and suffered numerous setbacks such as Lung and kidney failure. Sophie spent her stay in the Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin in the Intensive care unit under the top class care of Freddie Wood and Colin McMahon. She has been in the care of the Jack and Jill Foundation since returning home. Sophie (4) is battling since birth as she continues to fight for services she is very much entitled too. Sophie is a very happy, beautiful little girl and considering that she can not walk ,talk and is peg fed (by tube through her stomach). The money raised will go to providing Sophie with seating equipment, which is to include a wheelchair, to help her improve her quality of life and to help her to get from a to b easily and comfortably, and to know that you've helped this little girl would be a great feeling of pride.

The other charity that has been chosen is the Jack and Jill Foundation. The Jack & Jill Foundation provides care and support for children with severe neurological development issues, as well as offering some respite to the parents and families. The SOS (Save Our Service) campaign is an appeal to the general public to raise €750,000 before the end of the year to allow them to continue their current service into 2011. Jack & Jill also provides direct funding to families, enabling them to buy home respite care to give them a break. The Foundation cannot cure the children. But it can help to alleviate some of the difficulties that exist.
It is a horrifying world that many people never even know exists. Many people are blessed with healthy babies. For them, parenting is about feeding, changing, teething, and catching the odd snatch of sleep. But for the parents of babies who are born with life threatening and severely debilitating conditions, parenting involves desperation and pain, punctuated by drugs, physio, seizures, and hospital operations. A long sequence of exhaustion, and often terror.

So Limerick will be alive and we can welcome in Limerick as the city of european sports culture 2011
