Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Windows 7 is slightly less efficient then XP but a lot more efficient then Vista. You don't need windows 7 to use a quad core, but it will use it more effectively.

Its efficiency measured mathematically and in terms of hardware resources is less than that of XP, however you'll find the user experience to be quicker and more productive. From XP there have been major improvements to the UI and to Networking, Plug and Play, etc.

but no you do not need a particular operating system to operate a quad core processor. You need Vista or 7 to run DirextX 10 and 11 but thats the only thing I can think of. If your running CP you should look on AMD's site for any processor drivers or utilities but Vista/7 should detect these and download them in the background.

There are no specific Hardware Type requirements. You could run Windows on a 1999 PC if you were so inclined. You don't need DDR3 but in direct comparison it runs on lower power (and heat) at the same speeds, can be found for sale at higher speeds than DDR2, and last I checked in August, cost almost identically to DDR2 at the same speeds and sizes.
