Bord gas gas bill

Just thinking out loud here, I'm living in a small three bed apt. The gas is practically on around 12 hours a day (it's out of my control) and I'm just wondering am I screwed when the bill comes?... Does anyone else have their gas heating on non stop and have received a bill? was it really expensive? I'm beginning to worry.

Check the meter from one day to the next, and you'll know how much is being used then.

If someone else has it on that much, tell them you're not paying for it.

Why is the heating out of your control? Are other flatmates setting it, or it is controlled centrally in the building?
