Surprisingly doing high speeds on snow is not that difficult neither dangerous.
If you have good winter tyres, and it's a dry snow without traces of ice, grip is quite good.
    I think 140 - 150km/h was the max I did.
But when I drive on a empty road covered with snow, I usually keep about 100km/h.

People don't admit to speeds online when they've done them in the dry, really think people are going to admit to what they do/did in the snow/ice/slush

I reckon it was about 140kph in a diesel Galaxy in the Alps in the middle of winter. There were proper snow tyres under the thing, and a decent handbrake. The hairpins were tight......

Posting a statement like this in a country where
    - we don't usually get decent snow, just ice or slush
    - 99.9% of cars are on summer tyres
    - people have no experience of wintery driving conditions

is a bit reckless. Some impressionable kid might be getting the wrong idea.

Driving on snow is dangerous, mkay? Take it handy

Don't remember the brand, but they were winter tyres as required by German law.

BTW I was far from the fastest driver that day on the A8 to Stuttgart.

About 30kmph. I have no desire to wreck my car or kill myself...

That said, if I could get out on a big open plain covered in ice/snow Id love to open her up and see what happens :p

I think the bolded part is the key here. Sprinkle some light snow on a dry road and its not a big problem. The problem comes, as we are seeing this week, from compacted snow forming a layer on ice on the road. Drive at near 100mph on that in anything other than studded snow tires and you dont have a hope in hell of stopping. Even 60mph is too fast in my opinion.

Just to note, this is an important phrase.

As has been pointed out to me by another poster, advocating or promoting illegal activity is against the Charter, so where you're specifying speeds that are above Ireland's legal limits, please ensure to mention that you did that speed outside this jurisdiction.

As Peasant says, there are some impressionable people out there...

    Thanks.
