anyone have a link or a reference to more info on the left part of the Quays - fell into talking to a local and he filled me in on it being Delia Lydon's; after bought by Alec Finn (of de Dannan; he bought it so he could play\have trad sessions in peace cos he was chucked out of other places in the town for playing trad; although some info online says that he and the wife turned it into a cocktail bar so...!). any other info floating out there on the place? (it was great today with the roaring coal fire!)

Sean McDonagh got it then, initially as a tenant of Alec and later bought the place ( dunno when exactly) and it became one of the best pubs in Galway from around 1981/2 onwards until around 1994. It was titled Lydons of Quay St then and became the Quays some time in the early 1980s.

Mickey Finn and Corky and Bernard were the house band. 2 of them long dead, one on his way home to Cork on the bus for christmas.

Seán coined it for years, dreamed the dream of of a new mega pub and then ran out of spondulicks and bank support trying to build what is the current version c.1995 when archeologists/nimbys delayed the project for a year or two.

Some Dublin crowd bought it off the receiver, finished the job , opened around 1996/7 and I have not been in it more than 3 or 4 times since, it was ruined.
