    well lads just need a small bit of information on a substitution if anyone
    has done one since the new system came in i just wanted to know if you
    hand in a substitution do you get a letter back to saying your application
    has been received and a decision will be made in the next 3 months or should
    you just get your new card, got the letter this morning and i was expecting
    the card if someone could help i would be greatful as i am waiting 5 weeks
    already:confused::confused::confused:

    Firstly you should not have been waiting 5 weeks on a substitution. Are you sure you ticked the "substitution" box on the FCA1 and not the full license box.

    If so then you will receive a letter the same as if you applied for a full license. Then 2-3 (max) days later you get a grant letter, then another with the license.


    Your old license stays in effect 14 days from issuing of your new one, in case you change your mind. After the 14 days your old license is invalid.

    I gio that letter as well and the new licence was about a week after

    cheers lads thanks for that information i did put it down as a sub
    thats why i was confused when i got the letter i tought they made a mistake
    in the station and put it through as a new application

    hope its not to long more :)
