Ideas for protecting bicycles

I have 2 old mountain bikes which I now have to store outside. Any ideas on how I might protect them (CHEAPLY!) from the elements? (the dedicated bike covers I've seen in shops are worth more than the bikes are to be honest!)

Maybe use one of them free yellow skip bags ,it should fit over two bikes

even a bbq one is good I use mine to cover loads of things
