how to convert .avi to dvd file

Mod please move if i have this in the wrong section

basically im trying to convert a .avi file to dvd files using the lastest AVS Video Converter 7.0...

Now the file im trying to convert is sized 819mb's and when i try to convert it to dvd files it will only give me the option of splitting it over2 or 3 discs but not 1 single disc.....

but if i convert a smaller .avi file say around 700mb's it will allow me to convert it to 1 dvd disc....

iv tried making to .avi file smaller by converting it to a smaller.avi file by changing the bitrate but it still will not convert to 1 dvd disc..

Anyone any ideas or help, if at all possible i want to do this with AVS....

I use that program.

You don't need to shrink the avi file, you just have to choose one of the 4 dvd quality settings to get it onto one dvd.

Use Nero or ConvertxtoDvd & select DVD 5 as the selected output size.

Also possible to drop two avi's onto one DVD
