Stopped snowing here in navan after a good 5 hours constant snowfall. Must be 4 to 5 inches of fresh covering

  • Registered Users Posts: 295 ✭✭Winger_PL

Maynooth got 6cm of fresh cover so far, still snowing but going by the radar it will die out soon enough. It should top up to 7-8cm as it's actually still fairly intensive atm.

I suppose this just proves how unpredictable these things are from time to time, nobody (as far as I know) has been expecting this in the greater Dublin area tonight. Blah, and I need to drive to Newbridge tomorrow, some timing...

Somehow I don't expect to see the grass before new year, not in Maynooth, it might all thaw closer to the coast but we're 20 miles away. If the last 10 days is anything to go by, this winter will be epic.

I've been keeping an eye out, there was some drizzle and a few minutes of OK snow about an hour ago but seems to have tailed off for now. I'm near James's.

You should be OK, the snowfalls should clear within the next 2 hours leaving more than enough time to prepare the airport for the operations. Delay is the worst you can expect.

That said, there is something happening now as I just started listening to the air traffic control and they are performing braking action tests. It might get closed for a while whithin the next hour.
