    Just an FYI,

Just back form UK where i was using an Orange Sim card for my internet on my phone and by default access to boards is blocked.

They seem to put a restriction on several websites which they decided are not suitable for minors:
We’ve classified as 18-rated all adult themed content that includes gambling services, violent gaming, un-moderated chat and sexually explicit material. We’ve identified 18-rated content in the same way as community standards for films, video games or other age restricted media.
    From here

To be honest, its a joke. Ok boards has some material on it that coule be considered un safe for kiddies, but there is another forum i use thats about android phones thats blocked too

They make you sound like such a perv trying to get the thing removed too, "oh so you want access to the adult sites?" :pac:

And its not easy to remove either! I asked in store for them to remove it on Sunday, they said it would take a couple of days, still not removed. When i was talking to customer service about another matter the guy said he couldnt remove it at this time (whatever that ment?)

I would have moved from them but I have a large amount of free credit from buying a couple of phones so I'll be using them til that runs out anyways

Hey I had the same problem with my T-mobile dongle.
There was some kind of stupid content lock on it and while boards wasn't blocked the likes of youtube was, which is ridiculous.
I'd keep ringing customer service until they remove it for you.
I got mine taken off in about 10 minutes.
Everything is so child-safety geared these days.
I don't understand why it's there by default..why not have it as an option that you can ask to be added on?

Singles, seniors, childless couples, teens and gays against unnecessary censorship!
    Too right.

Yeah three do the same in Ireland and it's really annoying. When I first moved to three it took me ages to get the block removed. Every time I bought a new data bundle (which was every month) it would reset and I'd have to go into the store to get it unblocked again. Bloody ridiculous. If I want to view porn and masturbate on a bus, who are three to stop me.

Gotta ask - why not move from 3?

They sorted it out after a while and at the time they were (and possibly still are) the only provider offering decent pre-pay data bundles.

Boards.ie in my opinion is a site for teens and adults, i would assume the block is for "timmy 8 year old"

Phones now, are sold to everyone - the mobile companies are just covering their arses

Not up to the network to police these things really, and if they do then they should have practices to enable sites sharpish should somebody request it.

Probably, but parents that give little Timmy a mobile phone that has Internet access (which the parents pay for too) need to take responsibility for this. It shouldn't be up to ISPs or phone companies to monitor what children are up to online, it should be up to the parents. Many parents will claim ignorance, but that simply isn't good enough.

Well, i agree with you, but if a child has a phone, how do you suppose the parents are going to monitor it? its not like a pc where you can let them have access when you are in the room too and monitor their surfing - a phone is carried all the time, when parents necessarly arent around.

Let the parents set the security, as opposed to having it as default

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test
