Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Triple Coil vs Double Coil?

I am finishing a 240 sqm dormer with oil-central heating and am planning to incorporate a (Solarbayer) gasification wood burner 25kW approx. and solar panels in the near future. I have been advised that a double / dual coil cylinder will suffice, whereas I heard from other sources that I would need a triple coil cylinder to incorporate the three heating systems. Does anybody have a similar domestic heating system as myself and if so, what type of coiled cylinder are you using?

Have similar setup to what you propose with dual coil dhw cylinder. Main heat source is a vigas log boiler, with solar panels providing dhw when sun shines. Oil is only used as a backup. Log boiler and oil boiler are tee'd and can be switched in or out with isolating valves. This was most convienent for me as both boilers are beside each other and I only have one pair of pipes going to house.

You will need a triple coil if you want all sources to contribute to heating water....otherwise the log burner wont...

Thanks for that, any more comments welcomed....the issue really is what to use for hot water source, is your Vigas working well for you? Solarbayer were only one we looked at, not aware of many others yet. Solarbayer.de offered us a €6k setup including the €500 shipping for their device. Will check out the Vigas. Thanks

    Hi Frankgaff
You will need to use a good quality triple coil boiler.
