Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cube Aerial, is 58cm too big?

I'm just checking out the cube aerial at the moment and chain reaction only have the 58 and 60cm models in stock. What I'm wondering is, what do these measurements actually correspond to. I previously had a medium large Giant Rapid 4 which was around about the right size, but that's listed at 53.5cm. I've heard that bike measurements actually vary depending on the frame geometry, so one bike that's listed at 50cm could be the equivalent of another bike which is listed at 55cm because their geometry is different.

So, is the 58cm cube likely to be too big for me? I'd be around about 5ft 10'.

A ML Rapid has a virtual top-tube length of 58cm - hybrids tend to have slightly longer top-tubes than road bikes because the flat bars don't add reach the way drop bars do.

A 58cm Aerial actually has a virtual top-tube length of 56cm - it's a relatively high and short frame design compared to the long and low geo of some purer race bikes.

You're in the right ball park with a 58cm cube, but it all depends on your own geometry.

I used to ride a 58cm cube streamer - same geo as the aerial - and for me at 6' it was a good fit with a 130mm stem.

The geometry for both the rapid and the aerial is available online if you want to do the trigonometry...

Cube sizing is weird. They are short for the given size.
