No experience in midfield as they are all injured, even tonight Clark was a doubt and Albrighton is back probably too early after appendicitus, Ireland hasnt played too many games yet for this side and is behind Gabby who has only just got over injury & a virus. Dunne/Collins have not been in form and Cuellar hasnt been fit till this point to provide an alternative while Clark has been needed in midfield a position he is not used to. All this while having had no time to being in your own men and while trying to implement a new playing style, fitness regime etc means Houlier will get time from Villa fans. He will be judged when he the injuries subside and he gets a chance to actually play a first choice 11 mayybe including 1 or 2 of his own sigings

Maxi being on confident form really makes such a difference! The amount of 1 touch passes he's done under pressure already in the first 25 minutes to keep position flowing is just fantastic.

Looks so simple, but makes such a big difference to the movement and possession of the team!
