    I am.

I don't have to like other LFC fans though, which is great because a lot of them are idiots.

    The irony

It's not ironic. I'm quite clever - I can show you my leaving cert results to prove it.

I'm just a bit of an opinionated arsehole who thinks he's smarter than everyone else.

Stephen Ireland looks like he's put on a few pounds and lost a bit of pace. Sad to see.

... Houlier will get time from Villa fans. He will be judged when he the injuries subside and he gets a chance to actually play a first choice 11 mayybe including 1 or 2 of his own sigings
Even if Villa finish in the bottom half, or are in a relegation fight?

Anyway if you could put your ego in the cupboard we can get back to the football.

Villa not in this game at all, Ireland has done nothing tbh

Do we play better without Stevie G? Do the rest of the players take the shackles of themselves?

Stat alert. If Pepe keeps a clean sheet tonight that is 100 out of 198 PL games.

Club record is Clemence at 217.

    Legend.

Ireland has made good runs into space on a few occasions now and has been totally ignored for the pass. Even the recent free Villa had, he was standing in space asking for it but Collins decided to hoof it into teh box.

    I'm delighted to see that

He has done nothing since signing tbh. Been anonymous in all of the games which he has played in.

tbh, Ireland is the type of player who could very well just coast for a year or 2 and take an early retirement.

At city, he seemed to have a love for the club to drive himself to help them, to repay the faith they had in him when he was younger, but with that motivation gone, he just looks like he doesn't fancy playing football anymore.

Missed the start. What kind of reception did Ged and Gary Mac get?

Not imo anyway's but if someone wants to offer 30m quid for him in January then we should bite their hand off.

Well it depends, Like any set of fans their will be some who will turn against him anyway but the club will stand by him imo until atleast he gets the opportunity to put his stamp on this side. Nobodies fit and nobody has been since he took over after having no preseason, he will be given time by the club. I dont blame Houlier for any of Villas falling so far this season, until that changes he should not be in any risk of losing his job.

Is that blood at the back of Clark's head?

That is his 5th booking? mad - I wouldn't have thought he has played 5 times yet, time is flying!!

Would'nt surprise me to see it happen all right. He is everything that is wrong about the modern footballer.

Opps back to the game Babel looks like he enjoying himself today as does the whole team but it's hard to tell if it's because Villa have been so bad or we are playing so well.

Babel, Lucas and Meriles are playing some great stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,553 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

Babel is playing with some real confidence there

Lucas and Meireles have Villa playing long ball past them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

He might not have the ability, but Babel is an impressive athlete.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,435 ✭✭✭ilovelamp2000

Dirk is having an execrable 45 mins.

Loving Meireles and Babel tonight. Lucas is having a good game too.

Babel has ability. I don't think that was ever the issue with him.

Exacly. Not his ability thats in questions. Its his consistency and attitude, although I still maintain he never got a decent, consistent run of games in his best positions during his time at Liverpool.

No, we just play better when we pick two players in the central midfield who can actually play in that role.

LOL was that GMC telling Clark to "F**kin livin up" and then to "shut your f**kin gob" when he talked back?

Agreed if he showed more effort week in week out we'd have a top player on our hands. Don't think we will see it myself.

Apologies to Niallo earlier, I was being a bit of cunt.

Meireles and Lucas is definitely our best centre mid partnership. Hopefully we'll see Gerrard playing a more advanced role more often. Lucas and Meireles have bossed a few games this season from the middle, its good to see.

Also, Babel looks like a handy striker. I've wanted to see him tried up front for a long time. When he looks interested he is a handful for opposition defences.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 4,210 ✭✭✭argosy2006

lots of space in behind villa when they do push forward, Babel and Ngog attracted to ball they end up in midfield,if they played off shoulder of villa defenders we could play them in at will,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,146 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Good stuff, more of the same in the second half please, would like to see the lads go for the jugular.

Would like to see Cole on for Kuyt as soon as possible, and Jova coming on for N'Gog with around 30 to go to partner Babel up top. Babel's getting his shot up top, only fair Jova gets his too, we might actually see some of why we bought him.

Would like to see Shelvey get 15 or 20 minutes too.

    Brutal horrible sh1te from Villa.
We won't be as bad 2nd half but I don't know if it will be enough to get anything from the game.
Everyone has been rubbish, not just the easy target of Ireland.

No he doesn't, he has strength and pace, that's it. If he had ability, he wouldn't constantly make the wrong decisions, he would have a better touch, he would be able to pick out better passes/crosses.

Unfortunately though, people who watch English football seem to have this blinkered view that pace/strength is more important than skill/technique.
