Anyone even care about this game? I understand that if we win this game, we top the group, or we can lose an hope that Bremen beat Inter.. Not very likely..

Myself personally, I'd rather Harry put out a weak* (not a full squad, give Bale, Modric, and the likes a rest) and see what happens, we are through. We have to start looking at the League now.. Chelsea at home next..

    What you guys think?

    COYS!

I think play a strong squad, we can always take players off if we go 2 up. Topping the group would be a dream as the worst we'd have to fear would be pulling Arsenal or Milan (granted Milan would be a disaster) which improves our chances of making the quarters drastically.

Do I care ? Play a weakened team ?

Are you for real. This is a massive game. We need to top the group as it would give us a massive adavantage in the first knockout phase. Avoid Madrid/Barca and I fear nobody to be honest.

We don't have a weakened team to field even if we wanted to. From the bench on Saturday the only players that could come in are Kranjcar, Corluka, Pavlyuchenko and possibly Dawson.

Finishing top of the group is a major advantage for the next round so we should be going all out for the win.

Agree with Hatch here. We should go all out to top this group. Twente arent a great side and we should really be winning this game by 2+ goals. Would set us up perfectly for the QFs too if we win. I'm drooling thinking about it!!

    Gomes
    Hutton --- Gallas --- Bassong --- BAE
    Lennon --- Palacios --- Modric (C) --- Bale
    Crouch --- Defoe

    COYS

Luka is on the bench due to a bout of flu according to the spurs site. As much as i agree the priority is finishing first I think harry will try and get the win with the weakest team he can. Sounds like Keane may be in contention for a start too.

that should answer ur own question. yes i care. we may only have 3 games left(this and the home n away leg of the knock out) in the champions league especially if we dont top the group!!

as someone pointed out i dont think we can get ARSEnal in the next round. although i may be wrong but i think u cant draw a team from ur own country.
    am i right?

Need to win this game, if we finish second in the group, look at the teams we can get drawn against!

    Lyon/Schalke
    Barcelona
    Bayern Munich
    Real Madrid

We can't play the scum, Chelsea or United

The second place teams aren't that much easier but it gives us more of a chance to progress, especially if we perform as well as we can at home.

    Lyon/Schalke
    Valencia
    Copenhagen/Rubin Kazan
    Roma
    Marseille
    AC Milan

Win this game and we have a fantastic chance of progressing. No one will want to come to the Lane. Not after what we did to Inter.

    This may sound crazy,

But I want Barcalona. I'd love to see us top the group of course because the majority gave us little or no chance of getting out of the group and it would be great to turn around and say a big screw you but if we do finish second tonight I want to see us at camp nou.

It's been my big dream since we qualified to play them and now since thet played Real off the pitch (Some game that) everyone is touting them as the best team in the world and clear Favorites.

Aim for the stars I say.

I think injuries are forcing our hands a little with this team selection. Modric, Jenas, VDV all out, Dawson only just coming back. I'd start with Bale and Lennon anyway as it would be great to beat them as I feel Inter have a much better chance of beating ze Germans than we do of beating the Dutch.

Play the best team we have. If we can top the group, we should be doing everything we can to do just that.

It wasn't so long ago that some of us (including me :)) were speculating that we might end up in the Aviva in May. Feels good to be speculating about the Camp Nou instead

Wtf, what channel is this on?

  • Registered Users Posts: 535 ✭✭✭WHL

Corluka in for Hutton, Kranjcar for Lennon and Pav up front

    Gomes,
    Corluka, bassong, Gallas, Benny,
    Kranjcar, JJ, Wilson, Bale
    Pav, JD

  • Registered Users Posts: 535 ✭✭✭WHL

Dawson, Keane and Giovani on the bench along with Cudicini, Lennon, Crouch and Hutton. Doesn't look too bad overall

    seriously i say no.

i think barcelona could do serious damage against our ropey defence.
i think they could shatter some of our confidence and actually ruin a few players for life.

I don't like Krancjar on the right - he never really performs there. At least he's getting game time though. I'd expect to see Bale spending some time on the right wing tonight though.

I feel for the Twente goaly after that, and I also feel bad for BAE - it seems whenever we concede a peno, 9 times out of 10 its he who concedes it! There was no way that should have been given, very harsh..

Gomes having a bit of a shocker tonight!
