Favourite films of all time: Once Upon a time in America, has it all for me, amazing. Closely followed by Godfather then anything with Paul Newman in it.

Comedy:This is Spinal Tap followed by American Psycho

Western:The Good the Bad and the Ugly, honerable mentions, Unforgiven, Butch and Sundance and Westworld.

Sports: He Got Game, that's the closest thing to a sports movie which i'd even consider for my favourites list.

Animation: The Jungle Book, Alladin and the pixar movies of which i'd pick Monsters inc.

Horror: Psycho, The Shining and the American remake of The Ring one of the few remakes which i find better than the original, scared the bejesus out of me.

Christmas films: Home Alone 1 & 2, can't get enough of them.

Guilty pleasure: Saturday Night Fever, very underrated movie imo. It's Mean Streets with extra Bee Gees :pac:

Oh and best recent film i've seen There Will be Blood, ok i'll stop now.

Once Upon A Time In America , one of my all time favourites , saw it in London when it first came out and even though it was the butchered version I remember realizing after about an hour in that I was watching a classic to be. And yet another awesome score by the great Ennio ....amapola.. amapola ... di di deeeeeeee dah....

    Just brilliant

Die Hard. Just phenominal. Everything about it is perfect IMO.
I watched it on Blu-ray a few weeks ago, and

Dazed and Confused. Definatly not the best movie ever made, but definatly one of my favourites. Must have seen it 30 times. Owned it about 5 times. People kept borowing copies and not giving them back

Also agree with Aliens, epic stuff.

And Armageddon would be one of my guilty pleasures :o Fantastic popcorn movie

The main drawback of DieHard on bluray is that you can now see all the spots there Willis takes a break and the stuntman takes over. Same with T2 on BD :)

Ok, here we go, top 5 favourite films

    5. Heat - has class written all over it, the film equivalent of a Ferrari
    4. Dumb and Dumber - funniest film ever made
    3. High Fidelity - not quite as good as the book, but nearly perfect
    2. Goodfellas - epic

    1. True Romance - unreal cast, written by QT, has everything, I bought it the day after I first saw it and watched it again, its that good.

Of course there is a difference between your FAVOURITE film and what you think is the BEST film . . . . for the latter i'd go for Schindler's List

The thread title ("and why") gave me some hope, but all I'm seeing here is "favourite", "great", "brilliant", "best" ... and LISTS!

    Locked.
