Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

In all fairness he'd be a better replacement than Alan Pardew...

Not so odd anyway - he was quite close to leaving in the summer for Fulham (think he even wanted to and then pulled a U-turn?) because of broken promises in terms of transfer kitty.

They kept Suarez this year but I think the board had said there'd be no real investment to build on last year's 2nd place finish and that players would have to be sold over the next few years.

Leaves a club citing 'too high expectations' to most likely go to a club with the grandest delusions of them all. Great game, this football!

Martin Jol is a very good coach. He would be an upgrade over Houghton (leaving aside the obvious unfairness of dismissing Houghton).

I always felt Spur's decision to sack him was absolutely ludicrous.

    Firstly its Hughton not Houghton.

And what makes you say that Jol is a very good coach?

Martin Jol wouldn't stab his old assistant in the back by taking his job. Surely not!

ajax wouldnt give up the free money theyd be due in compo by letting him walk if they knew there was another job on offer

reports are that he was sacked, not that he resigned

Martin Jol is a darn good coach imo, always respected his work at Spurs

Don't think he'll have any more spondula's to spend at the Toon than he would have had at Ajax. I do think he's decent enough of a coach though. Terribly unfair on Chris Hughton, Champions of the 2nd tier last year and in 12th at the minute only 4 pts of 6th place (albeit earlyish in the season yet).

Says alot about people running modern football clubs, MIKE ASHLEY.

Jol: expectations too high at Ajax

Having cited those reasons, it would be strange if he moved to Newcastle; a promoted club who want better than a top half finish.
