What happens if they all report their cards stolen this evening?

They will have a hard time telling the judge who can see the CCTV footage of them withdrawing the money that the same thief stole their face.

I can just imagine the misplaced self-righteousness/sense of entitlement.
    Morons, morons, morons.
Gardai or people in the queue?

What sort of money will it cost BOI bringing all these people to court?

Will they make it back, or even out?

I ask all the best questions:D

Well, tax-payers basically own BOI aready and will be putting more and more money into it. So the real question is how much it will cost the country.

I was sad when our country started going down the tubes...

I was sad when it sank further down...

I was sad watching the IMF arrive...

I was sad after watching the Budget today...

This is a whole new sad...

If they get their Judgment, costs follow the event... so if you took out €500 and you fail to pay them back and they obtain Judgment against you you now owe:
    €500 + overdraft fees + legal costs.

In all fairness, this doesn't compare in any way to the other things on your list. Unless it's a lot worse than we are currently aware of.

Wasnt today billed as international run on the bank day or something like that, this promise of free money sounds like a last ditch effort to get people puling money out, could be very easy to get it made viral using facebook and places like boards ;)

Dont think anyones posted pics yet though so here goes have a laugh :P

He'll have to on the run for the rest of his life. He'll also need a new PRSI number, new fingerprints and probably a new face. Does he own a canoe and can he fake his own death?

Either live looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life for the sake of 700 quid, or he could give it back and ask the bank to please waive fees.

Gonna be a disaster for the big 8th dec shopping day if cash low / gone from ATMs and BOI still have issues

Or maybe a bonanza if those who got their 'free' money go on a spree!

Well, you were talking balls, and I pointed that out.
I'm sorry that your own waffle is confusing you.
You should take that up with yourself.

    Balls about what?

Did you even read the post and understand the point I made? Clearly not....

Please don't make me point it out to you....

Bet your bollocks that Brian Lenehan is out there being ferried from ATM to ATM in his ministerial Merc trying to sort out the county's debt problem.

Fucking hell, this is actually insane. So many people on my Facebook were updating their statuses about this, but I really didn't think such a huge amount of people would go and take out money they don't even have. Crazy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,234 ✭✭✭sdanseo

According to my Mam there were a similar number of people (~50) queuing at the BOI ATM in Northern Cross/Clarehall about 7pm.

    Idiots.

I literally just posted that. If you lose, you are responsible for the other side's costs.

Yes, there was a little handle and you pulled it. If you got 3 Lenihans in a row you received 100 euros.
