In all fairness, this doesn't compare in any way to the other things on your list. Unless it's a lot worse than we are currently aware of.

    I know that :)

I just find it sad that yet another thing is fecked up in the country...

It's getting a bit embarrassing at this stage...

It just seems to be feck-ups left right and centre every day here at the moment, banks, weather, economy, job losses, pay cuts, redundancies,
the list is endless it seems.

Quite amusing; it's quintessentially Celtic Tiger behaviour - Withdrawing say €5,000 when you know you only have €500 in your account.

Have we learned from past mistakes? Have we what!

Why you thinking of heading down for your no strings attached free money?

All are shut down except for the ATM on the side of Carrauntoohill that apparently is still giving out thousands. It's located at the top of the devils ladder. I hear it's going to remain operational until at least 9am.

I am actually laughing at how stupid some people are. Free money? As someone said above, did they not learn a lesson from the 'celtic tiger' that there is no such thing.

I would actually love to name and shame all these idiots trying to get more money out than what their account has, like publishing their names in every national newspaper.

is there not a cap of 400-800€ on atms?

TV3 news just said BOI said customers who withdraw money not in their accounts will incur normal charges.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,094 ✭✭✭jd007

TV3 had a small bit about it. Normal charges will occur.

€700 with BoI. If the problem lasts until midnight, some people will get €1,400.

Yes, the max you can take out of any atm ranges from 400 to 700 and if you try to take out more than that within a certain amount of time the atm just doesn't allow it as a security precaution (because it looks like someone nicked your card and somehow knows your pin too).

Well if we want to nail it down to specifics; it's whipping out €500 when you only have €100 - a microcosm of Celtic Tiger behaviour.

They may have learned from the Anglo-bailout/Nama that there is such a thing.

Yes they are all morons . Did it cross your mind that some people actually are withdrawing cash for everyday expenses and may have a surplus in their account? No, carry on your generalisation so.
